5 end-of-day rituals of successful brokers

While those arent bad things (who wants to be stuck in traffic?), just like with mornings, the most successful brokers tend to follow an end-of-day routine that helps set the stage for success.

And while everybody and every day is different, we can all benefit from thinking about what we do at the end of the day and analyzing whether or not those habits help us reach our goals. From updating your to-do list to reflecting on your day, follow these tips to make every tomorrow a success.

1. Update your to-do list

Take the time at the end of the day to update your to-do list. This doesnt need to take more than 5 or 10 minutes max, just simply recap the day and update your list according to what you got done.

After youve updated your to-do list and given yourself credit for the days accomplishments, take a few minutes and sketch out a plan for tomorrow. Whether its prospecting, scheduling meetings or finishing some paperwork, think about what you need to accomplish tomorrow to stay on track with your long-term goals.

While youre at it, spend a few minutes reviewing tomorrows schedule. Make this a habit and never get caught off guard by an 8 a.m. meeting again.


4. Reflect

Just like with appreciating your accomplishments, it can be hard to find the time to settle down and reflect on your day. But dont let that stop you self-reflection is essential to growth and future success.

If you dont think about what went well, what went wrong, and which strategies worked the best today, then how will you learn from your experiences?

Think through these questions everyday. You can even keep a journal to record your insights and help make it a habit. Self-reflection is key to growth and doing it will help you build momentum moving forward.


5. Unwind

It can be tempting to work around the clock to try and finish as many deals as possible as quickly as possible, and while this may work for awhile, over the long term this strategy will stress you out and hurt your productivity.

Instead, stop working at a decent hour and give your mind and body time to recharge. Maintaining a positive work-life balance will ultimately help you be more productive and successful in the long run, so leave your work behind at the end of the day.
